Xàtiva: A Journey through 3,000 Years of History and Culture.
Xàtiva, with its rich history and vibrant cultural legacy, is a destination which combines past and present in a unique way. Although it is a city of modest size, with less than 30,000 inhabitants, Xàtiva has been scene of key historical moments that marked the Iberian Peninsula, as well as being the birthplace of the Borja Potatoes.
Itinerary of the Excursion:
10:00 h - Xàtiva Castle
We start the day with a visit to the impressive Xàtiva Castle, located at the top of the mountain. We recommend arriving by car, taxi or small train, as it takes about an hour to walk up the mountain.*. From its ramparts, you will enjoy spectacular views and you will travel through more than 3,000 years of history, including the presence of Aníbal Barca, the Reconquest of Jaume I and the dungeons used as a state prison.
11:30 h - Old Town and the Thousand Fountains
Next, we will go into the picturesque old town of Xàtiva, famous for its more than 1,000 sources. We will start in the Lion Fountain and we will head to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria, one of the biggest churches in Spain, where we will discover the history of the Borgia Popes. We will follow the route to the Casa de l'Ensenyança, the Museum of Fine Arts, in which we will learn about the devastation of Xàtiva in 1707 during the War of Succession, through the famous painting of the King Philip V.
13:30 h - End of the Visit and Local Gastronomy
The tour ends at 13:30 h, but you can take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the delicious local cuisine, such as baked rice and traditional sweets such as the arnadí or the almoixàvena. If you decide to stay, the return journey is at your own expense, with direct train options to Valencia.

You can book guided tour only and go to the meeting point to join the group, has a duration of 3:30 a.m. and starts at 10:00h.
Tickets included.
We will spend a morning exploring the second largest old town in the Valencian Community and prepare to “storm” the castle.
02.- Guided tour with transport
Relocation from Valencia to Xàtiva + one complete guided tour with an official local guide.
Departure from Valencia at 08:30h in the morning.

- With pick-up starting at 8:30h-9:00h (we will send a confirmation message the day before).
- No pick-up: meet at Xàtiva castle at 10.00h.
*In summer it may vary due to high temperatures.

Meal option:
- Standard excursion: At the end of the guided tour, you can decide to stay for lunch in Xàtiva. In this case, the return to Valencia will be at the traveller's expense (unless it is a private tour).
- If you opt for a private excursionWe can make a reservation at a local restaurant and customise the itinerary.
- If you prefer return to Valencia for lunch, estimated arrival at 14:30 hrs.
Transport to the castle:
- If you choose the excursion with transport, the ascent to the castle is included.
- If you come as a guided tour, transport to the castle (taxi, tourist train, etc.) is at the expense of each visitor.
Not adapted. The castle of Xàtiva is stepped and sloping (not suitable for baby carriages or wheelchairs).
